The Story of Latin American Diaries- Ernesto Che Guevara

They say when the injustice leads to its maximal level, than the good powers come into their action, and these good powers than choose a leader among human who is capable of leading them against this injustice. And one of these humans who sacrificed their lives for humanity was Ernesto Che Guevara.

I was reading his autobiography recently, which he has written on his trip to Latin America along with his friend Alberto Granado, on the motorcycle “The Mighty”. Many Marxists leaders that have passed had their own style of life, but the man who had no political interests in his 2nd year of medical college, that single trip changed his point of thinking, and involved him in revolutionary politics, and this very diary is based on this trip.

At the start of the book, Che Guevera makes a statement that shock the reader, which his prophetic attitude towards his diary, he knew one day he would be leading a revolution, he knew that one day his diary would be bestseller in a country, whose intelligence killed him. He knew that, starting page of his diary shows that.

He starts with the introduction of his Latin-American diary with these words. “The person who wrote these notes passed away the moment his feet touched Argentine soil Again. The person who reorganizes and polishes them, me, me is no longer, at least I am not The person I once was. All these wanders around “Our America  with a capital A” has changed me more Then I thought” he writes.

As you go one reading the book, you would see he becomes more political, he becomes more committed towards the poor. On the way to the trip, he and his friend stay in hospitals, they also look for patients, and sometimes work for money when they are broke. The book shows Che Guevara love for poetry, and Latin American freedom fighters such as Simon Bolivar, Otera Silva, Jose Marti.

Travelling through all the Latin America, he was inspired by the concept of Pan Americanism, in which he gives an example of “Cantinflas”. And his strength had overcome his weakness of Asthma, as he played football and other games regularly.

His writings also express his sincerity with his best friend Alberto Granado, and vice versa. And his view of the world naturally not materialistically, and his devotion to helping the poor, and treating every human equally regarding of his race.

His interests in the social, and economical problems of Latin Americans as his trip continue, and rising of a revolutionary and a socialist inside him later on, with the words Bourgeois and Proleteriats, he used later on. His excuses from worship shows disappointment from religion which does not have an answer for the social, political and economical problems.

At the end of the trip he refuses to stay for work with Alberto Granado separating ways for political and social change in South America, he joins the 26th July Movement Later on, and due to his vision, military and political ability, he becomes one of the most inspiring Cuban revolutionaries, nowadays he has become a symbol for rebellion all around the World.

He has also written other diaries, such as Bolivian diary, Cuban Revolutionary war. The Latin American diaries have been depicted in a movie known as the motorcycle diaries. So don’t miss reading one of the most amazing diaries ever written by one of the greatest revolutionaries, as this is not only a diary, but also classic view of Latin America and its history.
